One of our key research projects is studying the invasive lionfish here in Belize. In the past 3 years we have culled over 2000. For our research we weigh, measure, identify gender and dissect every single one of them. By joining our lionfish expedition you will not only be hunting an invader but also contributing to our research.
Did you know? That they also taste amazing! So there will be plenty of opportunities to try this delicious fish!

What are the divers responsibilities?
The divers responsibility is their flights to Belize and their transport to Dangriga. Participants can book an internal flight from BZE to Dangriga or book a transfer by road. Participants must be in Dangriga prior to 3pm on their transfer day to Tobacco Caye. The diver is also responsible for dive insurance, our top recommendation is DAN. Please note that all participants should be at least open water certified and are a confident scuba diver.
